Final Blog Post
In this course, I have learned a lot about web tools and how to use them in classroom and professional settings. I went into the course not being very confident with technology, I am now much more comfortable with using web tools and demonstrating my abilities with them.
In this class I was taught how important it is to network. As a Communications major, networking is very important to my future field. In terms of Networking, I was introduced to Linked in and was instructed to make an account.Linked in makes networking very easy.I am happy that I made a Linked In account and was able to experiment with the website and be taught how to use it. I learned how to connect with professionals in my future field and how to network effectively. This helps me build my professional network and make connections that could help me in the future.
Another webtool that I was introduced to was Canva. I was recently elected as the social media manager for PRSSA. I am responsible for making posters for meetings, special events and fundraisers. For an assignment in this class I used Canva and learned how to create a poster using the webtool. I learned how to use Canva’s tools to adjust colors, fonts, and images to create my final product. This is extremely helpful to me as social media manager and I will use Canva to create future posters for PRSSA.
For Dr .Spalding, For your next term with more students I would love to see more use of Canva. I am very interested in visual design and think it would be very beneficial to add an assignment for them to design a poster promoting an event of their choosing. What would be super cool if they are instructed to find an upcoming event for Stockton (such as a club meeting, upcoming play, bingo night, etc). With their chosen upcoming Stockton event they can use Canva to design a promotional poster for the event. I think this will be very fun for the students and in the process they will be introduced to using a web tool for advertising.
