App Smackdown

For my app smackdown I selected the app known as “youtube”. I have been a huge fan of watching youtube videos since I was a little girl, I even would make my own as a kid. This app has gotten more popular over the years and has left a huge impact on society. Youtube has also become a job as well, with people receiving actual income from posting content on the app. Did you know youtube is the second most popular website behind google?
Youtube's features such as recommended videos allow the app to feel more personalized and as if it's showing you what YOU wanna see, not just filled with content you aren't interested in. Another example of features I showed in my presentation was the watch later playlist, a helpful feature when you stumble across a video and can't watch it at that very moment- add it to your watch later playlist to watch later on.
Youtube will help me as someone going into the PR and advertising field because the video sharing aspect of this app is great for communicating and advertising. Living in a technology ruled world, this app can allow you to communicate with the public through a pre-recorded video or through a live stream using YoutubeLive. Youtube allows me to advertise products in a fun and effective way. Advertising by going door to door takes lots of time and using newspaper ads costs money. Youtube is free and will allow me to advertise and promote brands for a company for free! This app can do wonders for me as someone wanting to enter the PR and advertising industry.
I uploaded my app smackdown for a reason, I wanted to show how simple it is to use the app and be able to share videos with the public. I have even used YouTube in classes to post a video for a project, just like we did for this class for our introduction videos.
I like that you included background on your app. Youtube is such a popular platform, that it is interesting to know the start of it. Another thing I found interesting about your presentation was when you explained how Youtube can be a job. Not only does Youtube let people express themselves with their interests, but can generate a large amount of money for some.
ReplyDeleteAva I enjoyed your presentation about Youtube because it is something I am fully aware of and is completely relatable in terms of most people being able to relate. I think it is funny how current youth and possibly future generations would like to be You-tubers when actually becoming one can be an arduous journey. You need to gain millions of subscribers and obtain thousands of views on a single video to get some money. I think it is a good and safe idea that you are willing to learn from this cite to help improve in your public relation occupations for the future.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone is familiar with Youtube in this day in age but I liked how you went into greater detail over the app. Before this class, I never made a Youtube video and was a little lost in the process of making one. But from your video and explanation of the app, you explain all of the steps very well.
ReplyDeleteI liked how you went into detail about Youtube explaining that it is not just a place where you can upload videos but also that they have a music platform and especially their own tv platform that keeps getting bigger.
ReplyDeleteHI Ava! I totally enjoyed your smack down and slide show. I have always loved Youtube and also posted a few videos of my animals as well but until I saw your presentation I had no idea that You tube can be used as a professional tool! Promoting products on Youtube as a PR is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you went into detail on how to product place within YouTube and how others make a living off of the application. I personally enjoy the app as a learning tool, from tiny house builds to make-up tutorials its such a great place to learn from, and now can see the more brand and business focus for both small and large businesses with the app.
ReplyDeleteHi Ava, your presentation was constructive, and I always enjoy watching, learning, and listening to music on Youtube. It has been my favorite website, and a few of my friends vlog and post pranks on Youtube, and it's crazy how Youtube is a platform for people that can earn money.
ReplyDeleteHi Ava, your presentation was amazing and very informative. I have always used YouTube just for listening to music. Recently I have noticed people vlogging and putting their selves out there to earn money.
ReplyDeletehey ava, your presentation was very thought out and well done i enjoyed how organized. i really like YouTube! it is a great way to make any kind on content on and look up a video on how to do something on YouTube. it is a powerful website that i love to use for music! very well-done presentation!
ReplyDeleteHi Ava! I agree with your point on the watch later feature. It's one of my favorites, next to playlists. Can't wait to see your creations in the advertising space!
ReplyDeleteAve, I also did YouTube for my smackdown, however I feel like you went more into depth about it's many extra features like YouTube Music and TV! I would say we both combined gave much insight to YouTube as a resource, and think it will help many people.
ReplyDeleteAva, i feel like your presentation was a refresher course. I remember when i first started using youtube i was so confused i wish i would've had your presentation to help me out then. I also like that you mentioned extra things i didn't know about.
ReplyDeleteAva thank you for your presentation about YouTube, I haven't really used it since high school, so it was nice to get an informative refresher course.
ReplyDeleteHey Ava! Youtube was obviously a main part in many of our childhoods, but I never realized how informative it could be for kids now a days. There are so many more things to do their then to just watch videos. It's crazy to me how much the platform has changed over the years.
ReplyDeleteAva YouTube the one and only this one was really good because I actually use YouTube every day to watch and keep up with basketball daily so like I think you nailed it on this project
